Frequently Asked Questions...
There's no such thing as a stupid question... and we've answered all manner of questions from the mundane to the interesting but we often find parents have the same sorts of questions in general, so here are the answers to some of our most FAQ's.
1) Will my child be in a group?
Yes... we divide the children into three separate groups at both afterschool club and in the holidays. This enables staff to cater for the children's age ranges and provide activities which will stimulate them, Little Group is Reception and Year 1, Middle Group is Year 2 and 3 and Big Group is Year 4, 5 and 6.
The children do mix at playtimes and some sessions outside. Sometimes, some of the older children like to help out in Little Group as well, so all children get to know each other.
2) Will my child be supervised both before, and during sessions?
Yes, after we collect the children from school and bring them back over to the club, the children have free choice time in their area with Little group in the End Room, Middle Group in the Kitchen and pool hall and Big Group behind the stage and in the hall. At each time in the day, be it sessions, snack or free choice, staff from each group will be with the children.
3) What kind of activities will my child be involved in?
The answer to this depends upon the age of your child and what group they are in. The younger children tend to follow activities based around the requirements of the EYFS including 'continuous provision' play in our very own early years room. This room is set up much like a preschool/reception class and features all the things you would expect to see in a class/preschool. We have small-world toys, a book area, painting and role-play. Children in the 'little' group have free time to create their own play using the resources available to them. They can also expect two adult led session each day as well as a circle/story time. The adult led sessions ranges from craft activities to cooking to sports and games.
Older children are either in the 'middle' group or 'big' group. Their sessions are slightly more structured in that they are planned by the children with their group leader, then they have more control in how they want to carry out and achieve these sessions. The older children can expect to take part in various sports and games, more detailed craft sessions, quizzes, cooking and quiet games. For a more in depth view of what we do, please read our blog or check our list of activities.
4) Are there drinks available for my child?
Yes, water is always available and we can offer out our cups. We ask all children to bring their own water bottle which we can refill when needed.
5) When can I drop off and collect my child?
During the holidays, we open at 8am and close at 6pm. If you have booked a full day with us, then you can drop off and collect at any time between 8am and 6pm.
Sessions run from 10am to 11am, snack from 11am to 11:45am, second session 11:45am to 12:45pm, Lunch from 12:45pm to 2pm, session 3 from 2pm to 3pm, snack from 3pm to 3:30pm and session 4 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, then it's free choice to 6pm.
