Frequently Asked Questions...
There's no such thing as a stupid question... and we've answered all manner of questions from the mundane to the interesting but we often find parents have the same sorts of questions in general, so here are the answers to some of our most FAQ's.
1) Will my child be in a group?
Yes... we divide the children into three separate groups at both afterschool club and in the holidays. This enables staff to cater for the children's age ranges and provide activities which will stimulate them. The children do mix at playtimes and we find that this is enough for the younger children who tire easily and often find the hustle and bustle of the older children too much after a while.
2) Will my child be supervised both before, and during sessions?
Yes, after we collect the children from school and bring them back over to the club, the children have free choice until first session starts. During this time, staff will be around to supervise. The children will have the choice of table tennis or table football inside, drawing toys in the end room, Uno cards and Chess in the kitchen and TV, or going outside to play (weather depending).
3) What kind of activities will my child be involved in?
The answer to this depends upon the age of your child and what group they are in. The younger children tend to follow activities based around the requirements of the EYFS including 'continuous provision' play in our very own early years room. This room is set up much like a preschool/reception class and features all the things you would expect to see in a class/preschool. We have small-world toys, a book area, painting and role-play. Children in the 'little' group have free time to create their own play using the resources available to them. They can also expect one adult led session each day as well as a circle/story time. The adult led session ranges from craft activites to cooking to sports and games.
Older children are either in the 'middle' group or 'big' group. Their sessions are slightly more structured in that they are planned by the children with their group leader, then they have more control in how they want to carry out and achieve these sessions. The older children can expect to take part in various sports and games, more detailed craft sessions, quizzes, cooking and quiet games. For a more in depth view of what we do, please read our blog!
4) Are there drinks avaliable for my child?
Yes, water and juice is availiable throughout the afternoon for them at anytime, and then, after first session, we all gather for snack time in the kitchen for a choice of milk, juice or water for a drink, and then the choice of snack for the day. We like to change the snack each week so that the children have a wide variety of food. We have pizza, croissants, wraps, mini rolls, breakfast bars, toast...the list goes on!
5) How, and when do I pay
Payments can be made weekly, monthly, half termly or really any way you prefer. We accept cash, cheques, childcare vouchers and online bank transfer. All information is available at the club and on your booking forms. For parents in receipt of childcare tax credits, a proportion of your costs can be claimed back. To claim you will need our OFSTED registration number: EY410308
