Activity Page
Welcome to our activities page,
these are just some of the actvities we provide for children and Kids' Club that can also be played at home!
This page is also a good area to visit to get an idea of what we do to keep your children entertained and happy.
For any further ideas, please look at our blog page. There are lots of different sessions that we've done in a normal kids club and playscheme day that might just give you an idea for home that I've not covered further down. Good Luck!

Physical Activities
Possession Football - All you need is a ball and a bit of space. This game is simply, keep hold of the ball while someone else is trying to take it from you. No goals needed, it's all about movement and skills.
Basket Ball - But rather than needing a full sized net, why not try a washing basket and some soft toys, or even balled up socks. A simple game that can pass sometime just throwing into a basket.
Hide and Seek - A good one for parents to send the children off to hide for some peace and quiet!
Music Games - Put some music on and have a dance! It's important to keep moving and this is a good fun way. We also like to play name that tune with them. See how quickly they can guess the song title, artist and any featuring artists. A further way to play is to do name that theme, using tv shows and films opening tracks or music from familiar films.
Talent Show - Now's the time to learn a new talent or practice one you already have! There are lots of things online that can teach you something new, like juggling, pen spinning, learning a new language or a new dance routine.

Games
Beetle Drive - Download the sheet, or draw your own. All you need is a die. Roll the die, get a number. You have to get a 6 to get a body first. All the instructions are on the link<---
Mr and Mrs - Like the Tv show, have two people, back to back, and ask them questions, like "Who is the funniest." I'll put on a list if you follow the link of some of the questions we like to ask!
Drawing Games - There are loads of different drawing games to play, like hangman, which I'm sure you all know. We like to play shapes - start with a random shape, and then turn that into a picture. You can't change the original shape is the only real rule. For example, a square, could turn into a house, robot, present etc.
A-Z quiz - there are two ways of playing this; one is to write out the alphabet, think of a theme and try to fill in as many as possible. For example, Animals: find animals that begin with each letter. Food and Drink, sports, occupations etc. You get a tick for a unique answer, but no points if you get the same answer.
The second way of playing is to have 6 categories and with one letter instead. We like to use, Tv/Book/Film, Animal, Boys Name, Girls Name, Shops/Brands, Celebs. Points in this version, 10 points for a unique, 5 points if someone else has it, and no points for nothing!
Countdown - Like the TV show, there is a good website to use here that generates letters for you and has a handy timer, too.
Who Am I? - Put some names into a hat, choose one (without looking) to stick on your forehead and ask yes/no questions to find out who you are!
Art and Craft
Drawing - Quite a simple one. Get drawing. There are daily drawing prompts on the internet if you're struggling for ideas. Inktober Prompts are a good place to look at, they have some interesting ones.
Design a... - This one is good to get their creative juices flowing and giving them a design brief. design a new football kit, or a flag, or car. there's loads of possiblities.
Colouring - Again, there are a lot of printable colouring sheets online. Obviously only really works if you have a printer!
Logo Challenge - Give the children a design brief for a new company, or even an existing company and re work a logo for them.
Origami - There a lots of websites out there to make some origami and is a great skill to learn!
Treasure Hunt - Takes some time to set up, but it gives a good reward. Set out clues that lead to another clue until you find the treasure. These could be rhymes to another place in the house, or to other items. Be creative!
Playdough Challenge - Make some salt dough if you have no playdough, there's loads of recipes online, basic ingredients are salt, flour and water. The challenge is to make something and make the best one! We've done things like a plate of food, a living room, animals.
Emulate Famous Artists - Some artists have more simplistic styles that can be emulated. Look at Mondrian, Lichtenstein, Piccaso and Kandinsky. Also, pointillism is a good style to use in pictures, as is pop art. Also, one that the children have always enjoyed is Pic Candle on Youtube.
Acrostic Names - Get creative with the letters in your name to make a nice poem.
Room Signs - Design a sign for your room!
Bookmarks - Make a bookmark!!!
Combination man - Draw a head, fold the paper to reveal just the lower part of the neck, then pass the paper to someone else who can draw the body. Fold it down, and just reveal the bottom part of the waist, next legs, then feet. Keep passing it around as many people who are playing, unfold the picture, and enjoy the creature you've all created.
Patterns - Making different kinds of patterns in different shapes is often a great theraputic activity. A simple way, is to make a long, swirling line on a piece of paper, crossing over itself a few times to create lots of open spaces. Then, make a different pattern in each area.
Another idea that the children have enjoyed doing at Kids' Club, is to use Geometric Animals and do the same thing there, either patterns, or colours etc.
Alongside this are Day of the Dead skulls, using a blank skull picture and decorating it like the skulls you see on the famous day.
Hamza hands are another pattern idea to use as well, and there are so many to look at to get ideas. Just print out the blank hand, or draw your own, and go!
A similar idea is to 'grow' a mandala. There's a great youtube video about growing it from a seed.
Comic Book Making - A really simple one. A good place to start is by creating a character and putting them into an adventure. A lot of the fun is just making the people, what they look like, what they love and are good at, who they're friends with, any pets etc.
In a similar vain, looking into Dungeons and Dragons is a really great way to get the children to tell stories and play in them, too. This one does take a little bit of setting up and running, but is really rewarding.
